Sikinos still resists the massive invasion of tourism both to preserve the physiognomy of the island, to protect nature and its people from uncontrolled development and to encourage alternative tourism (cultural, walking, scientific, ecotourism, etc.).

In Alopronia and Chora there are hotels and apartments for rent that offer comfortable accommodation to visitors to the island, as well as taverns and bars.

Beaches

Sikinos beaches, although few, are famous for their clear blue waters and their purity. They are easily accessible by bus and boat, which run regularly from the port.

Sights in Sikinos

CHORA Sikinos Town, one of the most beautiful in the Cyclades, with its stone mansions and narrow picturesque streets presents a charming picture. Of the two settlements that make up Chora, the Oldest is the Castle called Sikinos, while the Village is a creation of recent years.
MONASTERY OF EPISKOPOS - TEMPLE OF APOLLO It is the most special and interesting monument of Sikinos. It is located in the wild nature of the island inland surrounded by Byzantine chapels, cells, ruins of ancient buildings, parts of walls, shells of vessels and pieces of marble sculptures.
HOLY MONASTERY OF ZODOCHOS SOURCE OR GOLDEN SOURCE It was built in 1690 and was a nunnery. It was the last but futile fortress of the inhabitants in the pirate raids. The monastery is slowly being restored and today is one of the most important attractions of the island.
Αrchaeological Museum Includes exhibits of the Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Period.
CHORA SQUARE Chora square with cafes and shops is the center of social life of the place.

Hiking

The visiting hiker can enjoy the natural wealth and the landscapes of the island through seven walking routes of small to moderate difficulty. These routes, which have been highlighted by the Hellenic Society of Environment and Culture, connect the three major sections of Sikinos, leaving the walker to gain a broader view of it.
